Bushmanspad is a South African wine project that employs a natural and minimalist approach in the cellar. The wines come from Swartland , a region known for its warm climate, old vines, and independent winemakers. Instead of intervening heavily during winemaking, Bushmanspad lets the grapes and the terroir speak for themselves as much as possible.
Many of their wines are made with minimal intervention : spontaneous fermentation with natural yeasts, little to no filtering, and a very limited addition of sulfites. As a result, the wines remain lively, fresh, and sometimes a little wild in character.
In addition, the estate experiments with unusual styles , such as pétillant naturel (petnat) , an old method in which the wine continues to ferment in the bottle, thus developing natural bubbles. This often results in softer, more playful bubbles than classic sparkling wine.
The appearance also plays a role: the artistic labels and colorful designs make the bottles striking and modern, which perfectly matches the creative style of the wines.
